His Excellency Prime Minister
Adil Abd Al-Mahdi received this
day, Federal Republic of Germany
foreign minister Heiko Maas and
his accompanying delegation.
His Excellency expressed his
satisfaction with the
development of Iraqi-German
relations during the recent
visit to Berlin, in the fields
of economic, cultural, security,
regional understandings,
fighting terrorism and recovery
from its effects. Confirming the
need to implement bilateral
agreements and put them into
practice, pointing to the
satisfaction of the Iraqi people
for the cooperation between the
two countries and his confidence
in Germany as a friend country,
its industries, and products.
His Excellency Prime Minister
commended the good reception he
received in his visit to Berlin,
sending his thanks and greetings
to Chancellor Merkel and the
German president for the German
government' stance in supporting
Iraq, encouraging the work of
companies, increasing
investments and meet the needs
of Iraq in all fields.
His Excellency added that we
stand with any effort that
serves the stability of the
region and the world, we are
working on that and communicate
with the countries of the
European Union, We send
delegations and letters to
Tehran, Washington, and Europe
in this regard. Sending to the
German Chancellor the greetings,
his pride in bilateral
cooperation and the desire to
deepen relations in particular
after signing a road map for the
electricity sector with Siemens,
This agreement represents a
pioneering and supportive work
for German companies to invest
in Iraq.
The German foreign minister
confirmed his country's support
for Iraq's balanced role in the
region, which is becoming more
important in light of the
regional developments and the
current American – Iranian
crisis. The German minister
expressed German concern and
great interest in the stability
of the situation in the region,
his intention to visit Tehran in
the coming days to discuss this
issue, reaffirming to the
Iranian officials the commitment
of Germany and Europe to the
nuclear agreement, while
assuring that Europe has
developed a plan on easing
sanctions and financial
transactions with Iran,
meanwhile The German foreign
minister will assure the
Iranians of the importance of
maintaining the nuclear
agreement.
. During the meeting, they
review the developments of the
regional crisis, exchanging of
views on it and Iraq and the
European Union stance,
underscoring the need to sustain
dialogues between the two
countries and cooperation to
find understandings to avoid the
peoples of the region and the
world the repercussions of the
crisis.
The meeting was attended by the
Undersecretary of State for
Foreign Affairs and a number of
advisers and ambassadors of Iraq
and Germany in Baghdad and
Berlin.
