His Excellency Prime Minister
Adil Abd Al-Mahdi confirmed that
the United States of America is
an important strategic partner
for Iraq, and Iraq continues its
balanced policy, which builds
bridges of friendship,
cooperation with all friends and
neighbors, including neighbor
Iran, underscoring Iraq's desire
to develop relations with the
United States, with the rest of
neighboring countries and
friends in different fields.
This came during the visit of
the U.S. Secretary of State to
Iraq on Tuesday evening, which
followed two phone calls between
His Excellency Prime Minister
and U.S. Secretary of State Mike
Pompeo on Saturday and Monday.
His Excellency Prime Minister
reaffirmed that Iraq is building
its relation with all on the
basis of putting at first Iraq's
interests, strengthening the
jointing issues without halting
at the differences, Pointing out
to the importance of solving all
differences through sincere and
constructive dialogue, Iraq has
returned to play its role in the
region to return Baghdad to a
place where everyone meets and
not a place for conflict and
clash.
The results of the European tour
by His Excellency the Prime
Minister, as well as his
important visits to neighboring
countries, were discussed.
U.S. Secretary of State Mike
Pompeo affirmed his happiness in
the Iraqi government's efforts
and the role it plays, its
efforts to extend security,
attracting foreign investment
and expertise, including
distinguished relations with the
United States, commending the
Cabinet's decision to support
Oil Ministry efforts to agree
with U.S. Exxon Mobil on the
South Integrated Project,
Secretary of State expressed his
understanding of Iraq's
positions on the issues at hand.
The meeting was attended by
Assistant Secretary of State for
Near Eastern Affairs and
Ambassador David Satterfield.
