His Excellency Prime Minister
Adil Abd Al-Mahdi received, in
his office this day, the U.S.
Senate delegation led by Sen.
Mitt Romney; the delegation
includes a member of the U.S.
Senate Foreign Relations and
Appropriations Committees Sen.
Chris Murphy (D-Conn.).
His Excellency stressed that the
situation in Iraq has improved
and our relations with the
surrounding countries has
developed a lot, Iraq is a
unified element, a point of
attraction and convergence, our
priorities focus on the
establishment of security,
stability, strengthen the
economy, improve the services
and infrastructure that
destroyed during the years of
wars experienced by the Iraqi
people, our plans to move
towards encouraging the private
sector, industries, production
and not only stick to the
consumption and import, Noting
that the Iraqi forces have
become stronger and more capable
than before, continued to pursue
of Daesh remnants in the desert
and remote areas.
His Excellency pointed out that
the United States is an
important country and we have a
strategic framework agreement,
we look forward to the
contribution of its companies in
the construction, reconstruction
of Iraq and support the Iraqi
economy, Stressing the
importance of the role of
parliamentary delegations in
promoting mutual cooperation and
exchange of views.
Sen. Mitt Romney: I am pleased
to see Iraq with this security
stability, economic growth and
normal life in the cities,
changed a lot than it was,
Iraqis have great opportunities
for work and construction under
the unity of the Iraqis and the
rejection of differences with
the stability of the situation
and improve external relations.
Sen. Chris Murphy mentioned that
economic opportunities are
increasing in the face of
stability; US companies are
ready to participate in building
and strengthening the economy.
During the meeting, they
discussed relations between the
two countries, reviewed
developments in the situation,
improving the security situation
in Iraq, the vision of the
future government for various
political and economic issues.
The meeting was attended by
Chargé d'affaires of the US
Embassy, Joey Hood, and was
attended by Mr. Zafer al-Ani, a
member of the Foreign Relations
Committee in the House of
Representatives and a number of
advisors.
