His Excellency Prime Minister Adil Abd Al-Mahdi received, this day in his office, Iranian Deputy foreign minister Abbas Araghchi accompanied with Iranian Ambassador to Iraq and a number of officials, to prepare for the upcoming visit to Iraq by the Iranian President.


They discussed strengthening of mutual relations between the two countries, the expansion of cooperation in the economic, trade, water issues, borders and visas, and the common desire to reach a clear memorandum of understanding that would achieve the common interests of the two countries fairly.

His Excellency Prime Minister reaffirmed his welcoming for the development of Iraqi-Iranian relations, which is beneficial for the two countries and the whole region.

His Excellency expressed the hope that the meetings and exchange visits will lead to a shift in bilateral relations and the resolution of outstanding issues, In particular, the preservation of the rights of Iraq in its territorial waters and hard work to achieve the interests of the two countries and the two neighboring peoples in all fields.

His Excellency also underscored Iraq's readiness to build a common area like the Iraqi-Jordanian industrial zone.

The Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister conveyed the greetings of the Iranian leadership to His Excellency Prime Minister, their keenness that President Rohani's upcoming visit to Iraq will contribute to strengthening relations, expanding economic and trade cooperation.
