His Excellency Prime Minister Adil Abd Al-Mahdi received in his office this day Canadian Defense Minister Harjit Sajjan.

His Excellency confirmed that Canada is an important partner for Iraq, and has stood with us in our war against terrorism, we benefit from its experience in different fields that serve our security, economy and federal system, We look forward to continued cooperation between the two countries in the areas of training and financing of stability projects, Stressing that the situation of stability has improved a lot, we realize that the elimination of Daesh is not only by weapons but by the unity of our people, the strengthening of the economy, revitalization, establish relations, cooperation and exchange of interests with all neighboring countries.

From his part, the Canadian Defense Minister said that Iraq today is very different from my visit before more than three years ago, when Daesh was controlling of large areas and roads were closed, while this development is pleased us, the credit in that is for the victory of Iraqi forces and its sacrifices, conveying his condolences to the families of martyrs in fighting terrorism, underscoring his country's desire to develop relations with Iraq and support the efforts of the Iraqi government in the process of restoring stability, increased support within the work of NATO forces in the field of training and meet the needs of Iraqi security forces.
