His Excellency Prime Minister
Adil Abd Al- Mahdi received this
day in his office, Deputy Prime
Minister of Belgium Alexander De
Croo, The European Commissioner
for Humanitarian Aid and Crisis
Management Christos Stylianides
and their accompanying
delegation.
They discussed the latest
developments in Iraq, the Iraqi
government's directives after
the elimination of Daesh, The
support provided by Belgium and
the European Union to Iraq in
the construction,
reconstruction, and humanitarian
field.
His Excellency Prime Minister
commended the Belgium's support
for Iraq and the need to deepen
our relations with European
countries after the war against
Daesh, confirming that the
biggest challenge now is to
encourage investment in Iraq and
urged international companies to
work in the reconstruction of
the provinces destroyed by Daesh
and the affected, Pointing out
the importance of supporting
Iraq at this stage, assessing
the situation in it accurately,
understanding the difficult
circumstances and wars and the
complexities we faced which the
Iraqi people pay dearly blood in
the face and overcome, that
needed greater cooperation,
support and reconsidering some
decisions, such as putting
Iraq's name on the list of
countries of money laundering.
For his part, Deputy Prime
Minister of Belgium expressed
his country's readiness to
support Iraq, Noting that the
purpose of the visit is to show
the support of the Kingdom of
Belgium to Iraq, to identify the
opportunities to contribute in
the reconstruction of Iraq, the
strengthening of humanitarian
aspects and assistance to the
liberated areas, including
Mosul.
The European Commissioner also
praised the development in Iraq
and its pivotal role in the
region and its relations with
all, expressing the desire of
the EU to increase cooperation
and coordination in all areas.
He Said: "We are proud of
supporting Iraqis, the
Commission has increased the
amount of humanitarian aid and
we must stand with Iraq and we
will continue to support it".
The meeting was attended by a
number of officials of the
Belgian government, the European
Commission, the Belgian
ambassador and the ambassador of
the European Union Mission in
Iraq, also attended by Deputy
Prime Minister, Minister of
Finance Mr. Fouad Hussein, a
number of officials in the
Ministry of Foreign Affairs and
advisers.
