His Excellency Prime Minister Adil Abd Al-Mahdi received, in his office this day, Qatari Commerce and industry Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari and his accompanying delegation.


His Excellency Prime Minister welcomed the Qatari delegation, confirming that Iraq is a friend of all and a component of peace serving the region, meeting place for brothers and friends from all countries and peoples, we will not go back to the destructive policies of wars and consolidation.

His Excellency added: Our interests with our neighbors have a strong will to open up and cooperate with the State of Qatar in all fields to exchange interests in the economic, trade, investment fields and to strengthen the bilateral to serve our two countries and peoples.

The Qatari minister conveyed the greetings of His Highness the Emir of Qatar and Prime Minister of Qatar to His Excellency Prime Minister, underscoring that Qatar and Iraq have great opportunities to work and exchange interests, affirming that his country is determined to increase cooperation with Iraq and expand relations in the economic, trade, construction, investment and exchange visits between businessmen and investors, expressing the desire to sign a free trade agreement with Iraq to exchange, encourage and protect investments between the two countries.

The meeting was attended by Chairman of Qatar Chamber Sheikh Khalifa Bin Jassem Al Thani, Member of the Businessmen Association Sheikh Nawaf Bin Nasser Al Thani, CEO of Orydo Group Sheikh Saud Bin Nasser Al Thani, CEO of Navigation Mr. Abdul Rahman Al Mannai, Ministry of Commerce and Industry's Director of International Cooperation Department Mr. Abdul Rahman Al Mannai and Charge d'affaires at the Qatar Embassy in Baghdad Hassan Fadalah.

The Iraqi side, Minister of Commerce Mr. Mohammed Hashim, Chairman of the National Investment Commission Mr. Sami Al-Araji, Chairman of the National Communications and Media Commission Mr. Ali Nasser Al-Khuwaildi, Head of the Arab Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Ismail Shafiq, and a number of Directors General and advisers.
