His Excellency Prime Minister Adil Abd Al-Mahdi received a call from the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini

Mogherini congratulated His Excellency Prime Minister Adil Abd Al-Mahdi on the assumption of the position of Prime Minister and the formation of the government, stressing the support of the European Union to the Prime Minister personally and to the government, noting that working with Iraq is an important priority for the European Union.

Mogherini clarified that The European Union is following with satisfaction His Excellency Prime Minister's steps in forming the government, seeking to overcome the sectarianism in the selection of ministers, Noting that Iraq and because of its history, composition, and geography can play an important role in extending bridges of cooperation in the region as a whole.

During the call, Mogherini confirmed the European Union's readiness to support Iraq politically, financially and in the security side, as well as expressed support for Iraq in its stance towards US sanctions against Iran and the EU's readiness to assist and support Iraq to handle those sanctions' ramifications

Mogherini presented an open invitation to His Excellency Prime Minister Adil Abd Al-Mahdi to visit the European Union. His Excellency also presented an invitation to Mogherini to visit Iraq soon.
