Prime Minister Dr. Haider Al-Abadi received on Wednesday the Chairman and members of the Parliamentary Integrity Committee.
During the meeting they discussed the measures taken to curb the spread of corruption in state institutions and cooperation between the government and parliament in this area.
Also discussed was the financial crisis and strategies adopted by the government to overcome them.
Dr. Al-Abadi said that we can overcome the financial crisis through cooperation among ourselves and there are many measures taken by the government, noting that political differences and disputes lead to work stoppage and adversely affect the citizen.
He said that corruption has factors that encourage it such as red tape and bureaucracy, and that there is a strong resistance from the corrupt to the project for simplification of procedures because it reduces corruption.
The Prime Minister said that the corrupt have support and resources and try to cause confusion so it is necessary to stop them, noting that there is corruption of another kind which is squandering public money.
