Prime Minister Dr. Haider Al-Abadi called on Islamic nations to show unity and solidarity in the face of terrorism, warning that false and poisonous word are more deadly than terrorism.
The PM said in a speech today at the Conference of the Parliamentary Union of Islamic states that the false words that fuel the situation and sectarian strife are more deadly than terrorism in some cases, confirming that we in Iraq do not discriminate between our citizens on the basis of religion and creed and nationality, and that the sons of the south in the Army and Popular Mobilisation shed their blood with their brothers in Diyala, Tikrit, and Anbar against the terrorist gangs of Daesh that target everyone and falsely claim they are defending the Sunnis, stressing that our troops are the only ones fighting Daesh on the ground and there are no foreign troops on Iraqi soil.
He added: We have decided for unity in Iraq and seek to establish good governance in spite of all the difficulties and challenges that we face, indicating that the elements of the terrorist gangs of Daesh came from outside the border.
The Prime Minister added that the economic challenges facing the world due to low oil prices are doubled in Iraq because of the war against Daesh, stressing the need to stop the conflict in Syria, which devastated the country and wiped out an entire generation and displaced some eleven million Syrian citizens among the displaced and refugees and established an environment for terrorism to breed.
