Prime Minister Dr. Haider Al-Abadi said there can be no reconstruction or services nor prosperity in Basra and other provinces if security is lost.
He said during his speech at the conference for the official announcement of the Council of Tribes and Social Components of the province of Basra that the fighting between tribes is unacceptable and we cannot allow a small minority to disrupt the unity of the social fabric of Basra and the security of Basra is Iraq's security and, unfortunately, with victories against Daesh terrorist gangs some cause conflicts and disputes that lead to violations in security.
He said we do not accept that the disagreement turns into the deterioration of security and disruption of services and to corruption, so there is a force that has come from Baghdad to impose security and respect of the state and to achieve communal security for the province.
The PM said that the Cabinet meeting today has taken a series of decisions in favour of Basra and its people, noting that there are challenges facing the country and with national unity we will overcome them and be stronger, and some wanted to exploit the crisis to bring about chaos and they must be confronted.
