Prime Minister Dr. Haider Al-Abadi discussed by telephone on Tuesday with the Secretary General of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), Mr. Jens Stoltenberg, Iraq's position on the rejection of the presence of Turkish troops on Iraqi soil.

Dr. Al-Abadi reiterated during the call that these forces are present without the knowledge and consent of the Iraqi government and Iraq has asked Turkey through diplomatic channels to withdraw these forces immediately after giving them a deadline of two days, as the case is a violation of Iraqi sovereignty and it is incumbent upon NATO to use its powers to urge Turkey to withdraw immediately from Iraqi territory.

For his part, the NATO Secretary General thanked Prime Minister Dr. Haider Al-Abadi on this clarification, as NATO is keen on Iraq's sovereignty and will inform the member states in this regard and will also deliver Iraq's concerns to Turkey and to its mission in NATO, stressing the importance of finding a diplomatic solution to the crisis..
