The Prime Minister Dr. Haider Al-Abadi received a delegation from the East Assyrian Church headed by His Holiness Mar Gewargis III, Catholicos-Patriarch of the Assyrian Church of the East.
During the meeting they discussed the general situation in the country, and encouraging Christians to remain in Iraq and not migrate, as well as a number of other topics.
The Prime Minister pointed out that the Iraqi government is working hard in order to protect its citizens from all components and sects, and seeks for them to obtain all their rights, indicating that the country is facing many challenges, the most important of which is terrorism, which requires the consolidation of all efforts in order to fight it and defeat it.
In turn, His Holiness Patriarch Gewargis III offered his full support for the reforms carried out by the Prime Minister and his directives, adding that our prayers are for security and stability to return to Iraq and the liberation of its territory.
