Prime Minister Dr. Haider Al-Abadi received a telephone call on Friday from his Turkish counterpart Mr Ahmed Davutoglu.

During the telephone conversation they discussed strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries in accordance with the common interests of the two neighbouring peoples, and the political and security situation in Iraq and Turkey and the region, and the threat of Daesh terrorism to all the countries and peoples of the region.

Dr. Al-Abadi said Iraq stands in the face of the terrorist Daesh gangs and achieves victories, so it is necessary for the countries of the region and the international community to help Iraq and to eradicate the deviant ideology, noting at the same time Iraq's desire to maintain the security of foreign workers in the construction industry, especially of Turkish nationals working in Iraq and those who have been kidnapped by corrupt criminal groups who want to harm Iraq and destroy its economy.

In turn, Mr. Davutoglu, the Turkish Prime Minister expressed his country's support for Iraq in the face of terrorism through the participation of Turkey in the anti-Daesh international coalition and expressed his thanks and gratitude for the efforts made to rescue kidnapped Turkish workers and engineers.
