On Monday the Prime Minister Dr. Haider Al-Abadi chaired a meeting of the Ministerial Committee on Energy.

During the meeting presentations were given on the strategy of the Committee on Energy and its tasks, the water injection project in the Gharraf field, the Ministry of Electricity’s request to supply spare parts for gas units, the marine pipeline project that is transferred from the Japanese JICA organisation, and a number of other topics related to the improvement of the electric power system and increase the export of oil.

The Prime Minister pointed out that the country faces many challenges, especially the financial crisis that is a result of lower oil prices globally, and we have several plans to address it, pointing to the importance placed on strategies that contribute to an increase of oil exports as well as more efforts to increase the production of electric energy, and the positive benefit to citizens.
