H.E. PM Dr. Haider Al-Abadi received in his office a delegation of U.S. Congressmen and Senators chaired by the republican Congressman Mr. Rob Wittman and Democrat Senator Mr. Tim Kane.

The meeting discussed the political and security conditions in Iraq and the region, field developments of war against Da'esh to liberate the rest areas, the support of international community to Iraq and increasing armament in addition to promoting bilateral relations and strategic partnership.

Dr. Al-Abadi mentioned that Da'esh represents a global danger which requires more efforts and air cover, affirming the necessity of serious work to stop requiting and financing terrorists. H.E. also referred that "along with fighting terrorism, we are fighting corruption and we took some measures including streamlining administrative procedures in state institutions. On its part, the guest delegation expressed its support to Iraq and the government of Dr. Al-Abadi which is confronting Da'esh.

The delegation included democrat congressmen Mrs. Madeleine Bradallo, Mrs. Tulsi Gabbard, Mr. Jim McGovern, Mr. Peter Welch, and Mr. Brian Higgins in addition to Senator Joe Donnelly and republican congressman Mr. Bill Flores.
