The crisis committee held its sixth meeting under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Dr. Haider Al-Abadi.
At the beginning of the meeting the PM stressed the need to follow the economic and financial situation and the development of policies to respond to these conditions with the decline in oil prices.
The committee heard a presentation on the development of oil production and the potential for improvement with emphasis on the fulfillment of mutual obligations with international oil companies and to secure better working conditions for them. Having briefed the attendees on the action plan prepared by a joint committee of the Ministry of Finance and others, the private sector and reviewed by the Central Bank of Iraq and the Office of the Prime Minister, the crisis committee approved a lending program which is funded by the Central Bank of Iraq for 5 trillion dinars to be distributed evenly in the industry, agriculture and housing sectors, with the ratios taking into account the success of the sectors mentioned in the investment of the amounts allocated to them.
The Prime Minister instructed immediate action on the necessary measures to provide real opportunities to stimulate the private sector and reduce unemployment.
