H.E. PM Dr. Haider Al-Abadi met in the Kremlin the President of Federal Republic of Russia Mr. Vladimir Putin.
The meeting which lasted about an hour discussed developing relations and efforts of fighting terrorism and the military, technical, and economic cooperation in addition to other fields of common interest.
The discussions have been continued in another expanded meeting where detailed aspects related to oil, electricity, transportations, culture, industry, housing, agriculture, and environment have been discussed in addition to the available opportunities for Russian companies to work and invest in Iraq.
Dr. Al-Abadi said that: we look forward to have the Iraqi Russian relations make the region and the world safer and more stable under the circumstances of fighting Da'esh, asserting that the relations between our countries are strong and the goal of our visit with the ministerial delegation is to expand this relation and increase cooperation in the military, economic, oil, energy, and transportation fields, and increasing the participation of Russian companies in building Iraq.
The Russian President expressed his warm welcomes to H.E. the PM and the accompanying delegation saying that: the Iraqi Russian relations are strong and have a long history, and we hope to develop them. And this visit occurred on its time to provide a new support for these relations and we hope to increase opportunities of cooperation in the fields which serve our common interests.

The Russian side appreciated Iraq's stand which is committed to call for dialogue and political solution for the problems in the region.
