PM Al-Abadi Meets Russian Counterpart Dmitry Medvedev

H.E. PM Dr. Haider Al-Abadi met in Moscow today with his Russian counterpart Mr. Dmitry Medvedev on a separate meeting before they chaired a combined meeting attended by their two official delegations.
The Russian PM welcomed Dr. Al-Abadi and the accompanying delegation saying that: this visit will contribute in developing relations between our friend countries which reached such a high level and we are ready to promote them.
Mr. Medvedev asserted supporting the Iraqi government and the readiness of his country to develop the capacities of the Iraqi army and police, referring to the importance of activating the Iraqi Russian committee in the fields of military, technical, and economic cooperation.

On his part Dr. Al-Abadi said that: we highly consider the relation with Russia and look forward to develop the relations in the military, technical, economic, cultural, energy, and transportation fields in addition to fighting terrorism.

H.E. asserted that Iraq faces terrorism which threatens the region and the world, and we are fighting a war against Da'esh in which we achieved many victories, and in spite of the control of Da'esh on the center of Ramadi, our forces still exists and circle the city and we are ready to liberate it soon.

Dr. Al-Abadi affirmed the willingness of Iraq to increase the investment participation of oil and gas companies referring that he promised the presidents of the companies he met in Moscow to provide suitable conditions for their work.
H.E. also called for solving the crisis in Syria by using peaceful ways, referring that the continuation of the current conditions will only serve Da'esh and terrorist organization.

On his part, the Russian PM agreed with the Iraqi government on the call for peaceful solutions for the regional issues including the crises in Syria and Yemen.
