Prime Minister Dr. Haider Al-Abadi said that the youth are the hope of this nation and we strive to form a foundation that supports them, because young people have skills that should be developed and made use of for the country's progress and prosperity.
He said, in his speech during the fifth TEDX Baghdad conference promoting youth and talent and new ideas, that the country is facing many challenges the most important of which is our battle with Daesh terrorist gangs who want to kill our children and destroy our country and so we must unite to confront them and gain victory over the enemy.
The PM said that the challenges we face will lead to our victory in the end, and we started reform measures for the partnership between the public and private sectors, and for private sector development, and we launched the first two initiatives by launching five trillion dinars of loans for the the important areas of industry, agriculture, housing and the second launch of one trillion dinars for small-scale projects, which will be used to support young people.
He referred to the existence of defects in the system that require work, strategies and legislation to overcome them, and this requires time for implementation, indicating that the previous years have seen a huge explosion of government spending dependent on the survival of high oil prices but we are now seeing a decline in this price and we have to cut back government spending and we started in this matter, and we also have a strategy to revitalize other sectors and not have total reliance on oil to increase the national product.
The Prime Minister said that striving and continuing to do so would lead to a result and we will emerge victorious against the challenges we face, and we have a great opportunity to progress with what we possess from the youth community that has a great potential to build the country.
