H.E. PM Dr. Haider Al-Abadi said that: the Iraqi government is doing its best to protect the resource of the Iraqi people represented by oil; on which Iraq's prosperity depends. The government is taking its responsibility to protect the oil facilities and workers including Iraqi and foreign ones.
H.E. mentioned during his visit to the 2nd West Qurna field in Basra and meeting with directors at LUKOIL Co. that: continuing the increase of production is important to match the growth of population and the need for services, referring that oil is the resource of the Iraqi people and it is our duty to protect it… and we will not allow any dereliction in this sector; the situation is under control and companies should not be concerned about any threat because we ordered to protect oil fields and companies.
H.E. continued: the CoM refuses hindering the work of oil companies as such action represents an abuse of people's resources. Iraq has big investment opportunities and it is one of the most countries which have oil fields that are not invested, and although some parties are against the development of Iraq, we will use all our capabilities to stop them and keep oil production.
Finally, H.E. made a tour in the oil fields to check their work.
