H.E. PM Dr. Haider Al-Abadi said in a statement at Baghdad airport before he was leaving to the Islamic Republic of Iran: our visit to Iran comes to promote relations between the two neighboring countries which have common interests including fighting terrorism and staying united to defeat this malicious enemy which threatens the nation.
H.E. added: Da'esh not only threatens Iraq but the region and the world including the Islamic Republic of Iran, thus, we cooperate in the field of security and military to face this danger, in addition to cooperating in the economic and commercial fields.
Dr. Al-Abadi continued: we have the longest boarders with Iran, so, there are geographical, historical, cultural, and religious connections which results in having economic and commercial relations and we have to cooperate for the interests of the two neighboring countries, and we hope that this visit will be fruitful. H.E. also mentioned in his statements two separate points, the first one is related to the dollar exchange rate saying that: in this regard we hit with an iron hand on those who manipulate the prices of Iraqi currency.. the Iraqi currency is highly supported and the central bank has a strong reserve which is more than one and a half than the amount of the Iraqi currency in dinars, so there is nothing to worry about regarding the dollar exchange rate, however, in the past few days there have been some manipulation by the enemies of Iraq who want to affect the current conditions. We are fighting many wars, the first one is the war of Da'esh, and the second one is the war against corruption, and we call for citizens to be reassured that the dinar is protected and it has a strong economic power because it is highly supported and so is Iraq which has many capabilities in addition to the grace of oil and other natural resources.
As for the draft law of amnesty, H.E. said that: it is a law suggestion which will be sent to the Council of Representatives within the two coming days to be ratified. This law prevents releasing those who committed crimes against the Iraqi people in cold blood; however, it allows the release under certain conditions for those who committed regular crimes.
