H.E. PM Dr. Haider Al-Abadi congratulates the journalist community on the occasion of the Iraqi Journalism Anniversary.

 We congratulate Iraqi journalism on its anniversary and greet the Iraqi journalists who are working in spite of the big dangers they face, however, we hope that the fourth authority will stand responsible towards the terrorist attack and the many challenges that face our country.

The suppression of freedoms witnessed by Iraqi journalism during the tyrannical Ba'ath regime makes everyone look responsible towards the importance of protecting the achieved gains after the fall of dictatorship, and promoting the principle of responsible journalistic freedom through considering the interest of the country and its people. At the same time, we are determined to promote these principles and providing the requirements of free journalistic work and this has been proved by our dropping to all cases raised by the Prime Minister Office against journalists.

Let the celebration of this year be a distinguished one through adopting the slogan of (a free responsible journalism contributes in achieving victory) because the responsible national media is not misled by the rumors of the enemy and this fact will make us win two thirds of the battle.

Let us not forget on this occasion to honor the memory of Iraqi journalist martyrs who sacrificed themselves while standing side by side with their brother fighters in the battlefields to convey truth to citizens and paid their pure blood as an offering to the country
