Prime Minister Dr. Haider Al-Abadi stressed the importance of developing the agricultural sector and its active contribution to the increase in gross national product, referring to the need to expand the circle of beneficiaries of this sector, which will contribute to job creation and the advancement of agriculture.
In his speech during the workshop for the implementation of economic reforms titled (The advancement of the agricultural sector in order to support the national economy) the PM said that some of the bureaucratic procedures contribute to disrupt the work and procedures, and we have undertaken a project to simplify these procedures and remove excess obtrusive steps, and we will hold to account all who are the cause in this matter, pointing to the importance of real partnership between private and public sectors.
Dr. Al-Abadi pointed out that citizens want reform, and we are working to continue the implementation of reforms and there are cumulative obstacles that we are working hard to overcome, and there are attempts to block these reforms, especially from those affected by them, and we tell them that we will continue to reform and to reduce government spending even if oil prices rise, because this approach is wrong and harmful to the state.
He said that there is a possibility to exit the crisis stronger, but we need positive patience and not despair, indicating that at the same time when we are working for the implementation of reforms and face these economic and financial challenges, we are also fighting a war with terrorist Daesh gangs, which requires money and weapons, and we are working to create a balance in order to provide the weapons that are needed for battle.
Dr. Al-Abadi said that until now livestock resources are not to the required level and we must work to develop and make use of them in a bigger way.
