H.E. PM Dr. Haider Al-Abadi received in his office the UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights of Internally Displaced Persons Mr. Chaloka Beyani and the accompanying delegation.
The meeting discussed the conditions of the displaced persons and the assistance of the international organizations and its cooperation with the government to meet people's needs.
H.E. emphasized on the importance of the role of the UN to support the displaced especially after the terrorist attack of Da'esh as in spite of the efforts exerted by the government, it still needs the support of international organizations to cover these numbers of displaced people.
On his part Mr. Beyani praised the efforts of the government to relief the displaced. He also visited some camps in Kurdistan and checked their needs including the return of students to schools. Mr. Beyani referred to the commitment of the organization to provide more support to the displaced and its readiness to cooperate with the federal and local governments to reduce their sufferings.
