Iraqi PM Dr. Al-Abadi is Optimistic about Iraqi-Turkish Relations

H.E. Iraqi PM Dr. Haider Al-Abadi expressed his optimism about the future of Iraqi Turkish relations. H.E. said during a meeting with the Speaker of the Turkish Parliament Mr. Cemil Cicek today: we don’t call for ending problems between the two countries only, but building positive, clear and transparent relations…we came with open hearts and real intentions to deepen relations with the neighboring countries, and this is a basic trend in the policy of the Iraqi government.
H.E. added that the priority of our visit is to discuss means of confronting terrorism in addition to the security and military fields especially that Iraq has given many sacrifices because of Da'esh terrorist operations, and we also look forward to expand commercial and economic cooperation and solving pending problems. H.E. mentioned that exchanging visits between officials of the two countries will promote further cooperation.
On his part, Speaker of Turkish parliament expressed his warm welcome to Dr. Al-Abadi and the accompanying delegation saying: that the true path is to meet and discuss issues of common interest, asserting Turkey's support to the Iraqi people in its war against terrorist attacks.
Mr. Cicek added: that that the terrorist challenges faced by the region motivate us, as Islamic countries, to continue holding meetings and increasing cooperation.
Finally, Dr. Al-Abadi put, during his visit, a bouquet on the mausoleum of the founder of the Turkish State Mr. Mustafa Ataturk.
