Prime Minister Haider Al-Abadi received in his office this evening the Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly of Iran, Ali Larijani and his accompanying delegation.
During the meeting, they discussed bilateral relations between the two countries and prospects for future cooperation in various sectors, in addition to the political and security situation in Iraq and the region, and the threat posed by Daesh terrorist gangs.
The Prime Minister welcomed the visiting delegation and pointed to the importance of strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries in order to serve the interests of both peoples.
PM Al-Abadi cited the clear progress made by Iraqi security forces in the fight against Daesh, noting the need for more cooperation by countries in the region to eliminate terrorist organizations, which represent a real threat to everyone.
The Prime Minister expressed Iraq’s resolve and determination to end the presence of Daesh within a short period of time, stressing the importance of concerted efforts by all in order to rid the region of terrorist organizations and their heretical thought.
