His Excellency Prime Minister Adil Abd Al-Mahdi received The Turkish Presidents Special Envoy for Water Affairs Veysel Eroğlu and his accompanying delegation which includes number of the Turkish parliament members, during the meeting, His Excellency confirmed on the importance of the bilateral that linked between the two countries and the friendly people, reaffirmed that the relationship is a historical one and not just a relation between two neighboring countries.
His Excellency Prime Minister pointed out to strengthening the bilateral in water file and linked Iraqi interests with the Turkish, establishing joint Iraqi- Turkish water and other projects Companies inside Iraq which that serve the Iraqi interest in creating job opportunities, enabling the Turkish interest to get benefit from the Iraqi economy instead of the import, affirming that the government is seeking on shifting from trade to inside Iraq productions made.
His Excellency pointed out that the water file is an important file for the agricultural sector and that we have moved this year to improve the agricultural reality and we want to continue this approach in the coming years, there must be cooperation in the field of better water use and the possibility of Iraq benefiting from Turkey's experience in the field of irrigation.
The special envoy of the Turkish president pointed out that his visit to Iraq comes to open the horizons of joint cooperation on the subject of water. He presented a number of proposals for the implementation of projects for land reclamation and others for the development of the drinking water and sanitation sector as well as increased cooperation in the fields of trade and economy.
In addition to the establishment of a joint research center specialized in water management between the two countries based in Baghdad, as well as cooperation in the field of planting forests and the establishment of nurseries for forest trees appropriate to the conditions of Iraq.
During the meeting, technical information was exchanged about the levels of water reservoirs to improve the operation of dams and water management, especially during crises in the seasons of scarcity and flooding, as well as cooperation in regional and international files related to water.
